Just finished a long (but enjoyable!) day on the set of the new Walmart commercial — “The Pleasure of Shopping.”
Directed by John Mastromonaco for Untitled Films, the commercial will air nationwide within the next couple of months. Stay tuned for more information and video links as they become available.

Hype Machine

Lately, I’ve been spending a great deal of time on Hype Machine. The site is a compilation of various music blogs’, making it easy to find a really diverse mix of songs from a wide range of genres. I absolutely love this site and have found some great music by artists that I otherwise wouldn’t have come across.

The WotWots

On Sunday, November 20th, I will be hosting The WotWots stage show, as part of the kids’ events celebrating The Santa Claus Parade.
The shows will take place at Berczy Park (just west of the intersection of Church Street and Wellington Street East). Since the park is right at the Santa Claus Parade and show times are 11:00 am and 12:30 pm, you’ll be able to take in a show before watching the parade!
Shows are free to the public, so wear your warm winter gear and come on out!

Utopia

This weekend, I was on set for the Sheridan College final year short film ‘Utopia’. Produced by Ryan Ongaro and directed by Brent Godfrey, the film follows a group of misguided hippies as they try to start a commune in rural Ontario.
We shot near Orangeville, in the middle of a gorgeous, 150-acre wooded property (see the photo below for proof of how beautiful the area really was!). Check back for more photos and video as they become available.

Jazz – Moses Layco

Jazz with Moses Layco today was unreal! Moses is such a powerful, talented dancer and a joyful personality to learn from.
The majority of class time focused on learning the choreography (almost two minutes’ worth!). Not only was learning so much choreography so fast a fantastic mental workout, but I also saw marked improvement in my performance of the piece throughout the class.
Again, a fabulous class at Harbour Dance Centre! This studio is definitely my favourite thing about Vancouver.

Contemporary Jazz – Heather Laura Gray

I took advantage of some free time here in Vancouver by taking a class at Harbour Dance Centre.
Contemporary Jazz with Heather Laura Gray was unlike any class I could ever find back home in Toronto! The class combined a Modern warm-up with a more technical Jazz across-the-floor, as well as a combination that felt like a fusion of Contemporary and Jazz (of course) with a bit of Acro and Hip Hop. I loved the challenge and, despite my aching and bruised legs and feet, couldn’t be happier!
The studio space itself is quite well-kept and spacious, the teachers and administrative staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the schedule is packed with a wide range of dance styles and levels at all times of day. Harbour Dance Centre deserves its fantastic reputation and popularity.
I can’t wait to try a few other classes in days to come!

Stephanie Rutherford Workshop

Took a Contemporary dance intensive workshop with Stephanie Rutherford yesterday at City Dance Corps. The piece she taught was amazing! I will definitely be seeking out more of her classes in the city.
